| In a time of uncertainty in our Church, we
believe what Christians have believed for over 2000 years: + In the authority of Holy Scripture for Salvation and ordering our moral lives + In The Trinity of God in three persons + In the Virgin Birth + Jesus is fully God and fully man + Jesus is the only way to God + We are sinful people and have fallen short of the glory of God, however Jesus died to atone for our sins + In Salvation through the grace of Jesus Christ + In marriage as a sacrament only between a man and a woman + In the Sanctification of life from conception to death Orthodox Beliefs "The Anglican Communion has always declared that its supreme authority is Scripture." (The Lambeth Commission on Communion, The Windsor Report 2004) "Salvation we believe is not possible apart from the work of Jesus, God incarnate in human history. Jesus is not one way among many, but THE Way, Truth and Life for all humanity ..." (John Lipscomb, Bishop of Southwest Florida, April 4, 2007 statement) "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 ESV) "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another." (John 15:12-17 ESV) |
